Shepherd Park has been my home since 1995. Here, my husband David and I found a nurturing community to raise our children. It was the place I first became engaged in civic quality-of-life issues by forming an Orange Hat Patrol. Then, as President and VP of the SPCA from 2002-2009, I spearheaded the launching of the Listserv, Newsletter, Summer Picnic, Winter Potluck, Halloween Parade, and Yard Sale.

As a labor lawyer for almost three decades, I’ve also argued scores of appeals in federal courts and supervised a team of lawyers from various backgrounds. Most recently, as a proponent of a strong education and communication skills, I became a DCPS volunteer high school debate and speech coach (2009-2017).

If you elect me, you will have an advocate with vision and experience.  I will work hard to rebuild and strengthen our community, and always remember that I represent you.

I’ll build alliances to tackle our community’s perennial concerns, including public services, safety, and equity in resource allocation; and address the impact of the Walter Reed Redevelopment project.  As a naturalized citizen, I believe in protecting immigrant families.  As a woman and mother, I believe in women’s right to bodily autonomy. As a former teacher, I believe in the power of education to equalize the playing field for all.  And as a concerned resident of the planet, I believe in working to fight climate change and increase sustainability options.
